Lyn Meiklejohn

Director

Lyn Meiklejohn is a Fellow of CPA Australia; Financial Planning Specialist of CPA Australia; Certified Financial Planner with the Financial Planning Association (FPA); Registered on the Tax Practitioner’s Board and is a Governance Institute Member.

Her professional involvement includes contribution on a number of State Councils and advisory boards including that of the Queensland University of Technology and The Tax Payers Association of Queensland Inc.

Lyn has been a part of the organisation from the first day and has been an active force behind the continued growth and success of the practice in providing quality work to clients in their times of need. She has continued to study and learn in order to provide the highest level of technical advice.

Name Byron Murphy, Accredited Mortgage Consultant

Position: Mortgage Consultant

Byron Murphy has had over 25 years experience in the finance industry including 15 years as a commercial and corporate banker. His career has been helping individuals, families, small businesses and large businesses source the right loans for their needs. Loan types ranging from home loans to development funding, asset finance, working capital funding and trade finance. With access to about 30 different lenders (including big banks and boutique lenders), he has the contacts and experience to help you raise the finance for your needs.

Name Robert Trute

Position: Senior Accountant

Robert Trute began his business career as a trainee accountant for Ira Berk, the Queensland Distributor and Brisbane retailer for Nissan and BMW Vehicles in 1978.

Robert studied part time during this period, gaining a Bachelor of Business Degree in Accounting from the University of Southern Queensland. When he completed his degree, he took a position in the Internal Audit Department of Defiance Mills Limited, a Flour Milling and Bakery Group in Australia and New Zealand. While working at Defiance, he occupied the positions of Internal Auditor, Information Systems Auditor and Procedures Analyst eventually taking the post of Internal Audit Manager which he held for 5 years.

During this time he had extensive exposure to manufacturing systems, corporate tax law and international tax arrangements. He also set up a Board Audit committee and Charter. Having completed his MBA (Masters of Business Administration) in International Business at USQ in Toowoomba in 1996 and became a Certified Information Systems Auditor through the Information Systems Audit and Control Association. During this period he also held various positions within this professional body, and was the Program Director at one of their International Conferences.

Robert moved on and performed various contract Internal Audit functions within the Treasury Department of the Queensland Government. Robert then accepted the role of Financial Controller for ACM, which operates a number of correctional centres throughout the world. He was primarily responsible for the provision of management of management guidance, support and direction to ensure the centre was managed in a sound commercial manner under a contract which reduced annually in value requiring continual efficiency improvements. He was responsible for the Finance, Administration, HR, IT and food service operations. He also had considerable experience in tender preparation and presentation over this period.

Moving on to a small telecommunication startup operation 1300Words, he was exposed to capital raising and working capital management in a niche market.

Roberts specialist areas are small business accounting and taxation.
